Smart Farming

A modern farm faces several challenges at the same time. In industrially developed countries, these are labour shortages and bans on protective agents. The transition from traditional to organic farming forced by the biocide has a positive effect on food prices, but organic farming is characterised by a high manual labour input. This is why the RobotA initiative was launched at the ILT. The institute works closely with leading research institutions in Switzerland and the EU.

Our focus

  • Applications of autonomous systems in agriculture
  • Research into full automation and digitalisation in food production and general agricultural work and processes.
  • Research for autonomous and ecologically convincing weed control systems, detection, localisation and treatment of weeds
