Low Cost, High Density LED Driver

Requirements for an LED ballast are very diverse nowadays. Often driven by the cost, features, size or efficiency, many competitors try to differentiate in the market. LED ballasts with high power density, the same specifications and at the same time low cost are not currently found on the market. The project included the concept research study and built prototypes until functional models.

Edison's light bulb was replaced some time ago by energy-saving lamps. But these are soon replaced again by LED Technology. The lights are more efficient with every generation, smaller and the design of the luminary is becoming increasingly more important. This is clearly the motivation to miniaturize the electronics to incorporate it into the lights.

In close cooperation with our customer we developed a 35W LED driver with a power density of 1 W per cubic centimeter. This is a threefold increase over the available products on the market.

  • Output Voltage: 30V – 60V (galv. isolated)
  • Output Power: 35W
  • Dimming Level: 1% - 100%
  • Power Density: 1W/cm³
  • Efficiency: >90%

Mit dem aufgebauten Prototyp wurde gezeigt, dass die Leistungsdichte massiv erhöht werden kann, ohne Kompromisse bezüglich der elektrischen Spezifikationen einzugehen. Durch ein intelligentes platzieren der Bauteile ist eine optimale Wärmeverteilung und Langlebigkeit des Konverters garantiert.
