To overcome the highest mountains, our SYSPIDER needs also some electronic components. That’s why the robot has three circuit boards. First the electronic pattern was drawn, afterwards the design layout was made by ourselves. In the end, the circuit boards were manufactured, the components were soldered and the boards tested.
Print Board 1: Power supply
This circuit board contains the power supply and the motor controller.
The batterie is directly connected to this circuit board. First there is a fuse on the circuit board, directly after the batterie connection. After the fuse is a main switch. The voltage regulation from 12V to 5V is realized with a Step-Down Voltage Regulator which is used for the motor controllers, the MPC 555, the WiFi-module and the voltage regulation from 5V to 3,3V, which is placed on circuit board two. The motor controllers are also on print one. They are two controllers which can control two motors each. The connection from the print to the batterie, to the main switch and to the motors are realized with a terminal block with a screw mechanism. The other boards are linked with ZipWire connection.
Print Board 2: MPC 555
On this board are all connections to sensors, connections to the control element, the WiFi-module and the MPC 555.
The MPC 555 on the circuit board is the heart of the robot because he reads every signal from the sensors and controls the motor and the LEDs. For the communication to the other robot is the WiFly-module, which is also on this print. The components got placed as compact as possible and there are four holes in the circuit board to fix it on the robot.
Print Board 3: control element
This circuit board is equipped with 5 LEDs and 5 buttons, which are connected to the MPC 555. This circuit board is the connection between user and robot.
The LEDs can shine green and red to visualize important functions, like fault or running. Together with the five buttons, the robot is easy to control.
